2. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following ways:

Information you provide directly:

• Name and email address when you create an account
• Crowd reports and quick reports you submit
• Reviews and star ratings you write
• Photos you attach to reviews
• Locations you add to your Watchlist or Favorites
• Destinations you set via the Heading There feature

Information collected automatically:

• Device location (when you grant permission) to show nearby places and enable watchlist alerts
• Basic usage data such as app interactions, to improve the experience
• Device type and operating system for compatibility purposes

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account
• Display crowd reports, busy times, and location data within the app
• Send push notifications when watched locations hit your preferred crowd level
• Prevent abuse through anti-spam and report authenticity protections
• Improve app performance and fix bugs
• Respond to support requests

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

• Supabase — our backend infrastructure provider. Data is stored securely on Supabase servers. See Supabase's Privacy Policy.
• Google Places API — used to retrieve location data and business information. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

5. Location Data

Prescout requests access to your device's location to show you nearby places and to trigger watchlist notifications when you are near a watched location. Location is used only while the app is in use, unless you have granted background location access for watchlist alerts.

You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings. Some features of the app will not function without location access.

6. Push Notifications

We use push notifications to alert you when a watched location hits your preferred crowd level. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings or within the app.

7. Data Retention

• Crowd reports expire automatically after 60 minutes
• Price reports expire after 60 days
• Heading There destinations expire after 4 hours
• Watchlist entries expire after 24 hours
• Account data is retained until you delete your account

When you delete your account, your personal information is removed. Reviews you submitted are preserved but displayed as "Deleted User" to maintain the integrity of location history for other users.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Delete your account and associated personal data
• Opt out of push notifications at any time
• Revoke location permissions at any time

9. Children's Privacy

Prescout is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission and secure backend infrastructure through Supabase. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
